In addition to numerous businesses, our Chairman, R.E. Turner III, has started many philanthropic organizations to address various global challenges. Mr. Turner strongly encourages others to also engage in a new spirit of philanthropy aimed at creating a better world.

Captain Planet Foundation

Captain Planet Foundation   www.captainplanetfdn.org
Started in 1991, the mission of Captain Planet Foundation, Inc. (CPF) is to fund and support hands-on environmental projects for children and youth. CPF's objective is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Through environmental education, CPF believes that children can achieve a better understanding and appreciation for the world in which they live. CPF funds small environmental projects throughout the United States and internationally.

United Nations Foundation

United Nations Foundation   www.unfoundation.org
United Nations Foundation, Inc. (the "UN Foundation") was created in 1998 in response to R.E. Turner's generous and historic gift of $1 billion in support of United Nations causes. The UN Foundation seeks to support the goals and objectives of the United Nations and its Charter in order to promote a more peaceful, prosperous and just world. Through its strategic grantmaking, the UN Foundation facilitates and assists the United Nations' work, specifically on behalf of economic, social, environmental and humanitarian causes. Through 2001, the UN Foundation has committed more than $440 million in its priority areas: the Environment, Women and Population; Children's Health; and Peace, Security and Human Rights.

Better World Fund

Better World Fund   www.betterworldfund.org
The Better World Campaign is a project of Better World Fund, Inc. (BWF) and was created in 1998 with initial support from R.E. Turner's historic $1 billion gift to support United Nations causes. It is a bi-partisan, non-profit national education and outreach effort dedicated to enhancing the awareness of and appreciation for the vital role the United Nations plays around the world. In particular, the Campaign works to highlight the UN's work to strengthen international security through multilateral cooperation. BWC believes that UN efforts on behalf of global peace and progress help advance the interests of the U.S. and all nations.

Nuclear Threat Initiative

Nuclear Threat Initiative   www.nti.org
Founded by R.E. Turner, III and former Senator Sam Nunn in January 2001, Nuclear Threat Initiative, Inc. (NTI) is an organization working to reduce the global threat from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. NTI has brought together international experts with different views and experience who share a common goal of taking immediate action to close the gap between the global threat and the response. NTI has created a content-rich website with daily news and in-depth resources to give people access to the facts about the threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.
