The Turner Foundation set out to do its part sixteen years ago. We have made good progress. But every day our mission becomes much more urgent.

fpo

We have a beautiful, fragile planet where all people and all things are interdependent and interconnected. Every action or inaction has an impact - good or bad - upon our surroundings, and anything we do today will have an impact on the lives of our grandchildren.

The Turner Foundation looks at the earth as a precious asset that has been lent to us. As a family, we believe it is our job to do whatever we can to leave it better than we found it.

We have learned much over the last sixteen years and we have had the good fortune of getting to know thousands of environmental heroes. We are all in this together.

The only way we will survive is to join our hands and our hearts. The Turner family is grateful for the chance to do our part.

-- R.E. Turner, Chairman

In Colorado, more than 3 million acres are protected as Wilderness. Yet Colorado's canyon country - the lower-elevation, desert wildlands critical for such wildlife species as elk, mountain lions, raptors and lynx - remains relatively unprotected.
