    Virtually every contested environmental issue finds well-financed corporate interest organizations mounting highly sophisticated campaigns designed to limit or distort media coverage of environmental issues. In general, environmental NGOs have neither the same resources nor the same degree of sophistication in conveying their messages.

EMS educates environmental NGOs and the media in order to ensure that environmental messages are conveyed fairly and effectively to the public. EMS conducts press briefings and works with environmentalists to improve their media outreach efforts. EMS uses its funds from the Turner Foundation to address climate change and sprawl, and to strengthen the environmental community in Montana.
