The Turner Foundation has implemented an invitation-only grantmaking process. Letters of inquiry and unsolicited proposals are not accepted.

Program staff works closely with Turner Foundation trustees to internally develop priorities and a strategic portfolio of grants. We regularly conduct site visits, attend numerous conferences, and network with the NGO and philanthropic communities. When appropriate, we will invite proposals from organizations that best fit the Foundation's priorities.

We support a broad range of organizations and approaches, including advocacy, organizing, public education, and hands-on conservation work.

Encompassing nearly three million acres of habitat, the South Carolina Lowcountry has international ecological significance. At the heart of this region is the ACE Basin, one of the largest, most pristine and viable estuarine ecosystems in North America.
